Basic terminology guidelines

Here is the Linux guide.

If you have couple weeks of free time and you do not fall under Linux newbie category then you can probably close this page as most likely you will be able to figure everything out on your own. The following manual is written for LINUX newbies and those who do not want to waste much time fixing all of the bugs.
PART I
Installation of WINE.

WINE version 1.0.1 or 1.1.0 is a part of most Linux assemblies the latest versions of WINE are 1.1.36 or 1.2.0. As far as Rage of Mages goes, it does not really matters if you have older version, but in newer versions WINE has better support for DirectDraw and Direct3D. If you see your LINUX assembly in this LIST than you very lucky. Otherwise you will have to download the source code form HERE and compile it yourself. That also true for someone with Mac OS X or other UNIX based system.
PART II
Installation of Rage of Mages.
If you using English version of the game than you can omit this section.
Otherwise, you have to manually install LANG into ru_RU.utf-8, if you have English LINUX and Russian version of the game.
PART III
WINE Set Up.
You can still play the game if you have complete parts one and two, but you will have quite a bit of lags;therefore, in order to omit lags you have to do the following.
Open registry editor (regedit.exe or regedit or wine regedit), open HKCU\Software\Wine\Direct3D. If you do not see it, you'll have to create it. In the above folder you have to ensure that line DirectDrawRendered is set to opengl. In most cases it will increase overall graphical performance of ROM, but might decrease it in other games.

FAQ
Q: I have installed licensed version of the game but it shows black screen and/or starts to play video and then freezes.
A: Install latest version of Smacker library form HERE.
Q: I'am trying to connect to the Hat and getting the message to check that server's URL is typed correctly.
A: Either Hat is disconnected (you can check Forum) or you have older version of the game patch.
Q: When i am trying to run ping I get message "Received wrong packet" or "Unable to open raw socket".
A: This happens because of the security issues. You can see more information regarding this issue HERE.
Q: I have no sound.
A: Do you have sound card, speakers/headphones, ears, and volume? If you answer yes to all of the previous questions then check winecfg.
Q: I have a different problem.
A: Submit your question to "Contact Administration" section of the forum.

я тебе тоже наверное личный ящик зафлудил, но у меня сервер в таймаут уходит. вот что я писал если таки не отослало.

там пару ошибок, вот тут (http://allods2.eu/en/tutorial/startgame/) и тут (http://allods2.eu/en/tutorial/startgame/join/) раздели слова howto. И в мануале там loging написано 8. "loging", убери букву g в кноце.
Линух гайд прогнал по ворду, так что там все нормуль.

Until this gets fixed I am starting the translation on various guides and tutorials from the russian section, the items set in key maps in particular.

@Tangar, Lordark: you think it would be ok to copy / paste those tutorials&guides here in the English section, as long as the original author is credited?

I can see the monster description pate no problem. I will try to translate it then. As far as copy/pasting here i think it will be the best so we can spell check before it will get posted.

What will happen with his english versions that he uploaded? Will it be an equivalent thread of his guides here in the english section once his work is done?

Yes, you will have to tell in the thread which map you are taking. As far as what will happen afterwards, you will have to check with admins.

@Traphalet if you want then you do the monster page, and i can just proof read it. As i will only be able to translate everything and paste it here, without putting it together as web page.

2. I'm not sure that I correctly understood you. What do you mean under "sign up for a quest map" ?
If you just want to receive notifications of new posts then you should click "Watch thread" button located at the tor right corner of the page.

But if you want to create guides for the maps like I do - then before doing that you have to write a post that you're taking certain map in work. Its required to avoid situations when 2 persons work on the guide for the same map.

Sunrei, thank you. I was interested in creating map guides like you until I saw that the guide must be in Russian too. Unfortunately I can only do the English versions which is only half the job - not cool.

Actually translating worth 25% of entire work. If you create guide in English I could help you with translation. Finally we can split reward points 75/25. What do you think?

Tangar, sorry to give you another HTM file, but the monster description is full of tables, and less text.
I tried to extract only the relevant data from the page, so that you can use the code entirely, please check it out.

Sunrei yes it is just 25 percent, but regarding the translation into Russian :P I can do the PSD and all other required files, but I kinda fail when I get to translate to Russian.
Ill give it a try anyway, see what good comes out of it.
